Movies in 3D are becoming more and more popular. It is one of the main reasons we still go out to see a movie, but with the right player, we can see a 3D movie from the comfort of our homes. Bino provides mostly everything that you would expect from a media player, but it is also capable of playing stereoscopic videos. What's more, it offers support for multi-display videos, which are played with multiple projectors on powerwalls or other similar setups.

The software is free and it is available for multiple platforms, such as Windows, Mac OS X, FreeBSD, and GNU/Linux. The Windows installation file is 10.7 MB and it takes you through a straightforward procedure. Additional codecs are not required and you will not have to reboot your computer. In other words, you can have Bino up and running in a few moments.

Bino supports a wide range of video formats. Its interface is similar to most players on the market. You can find the playback controls on the lower part of the window, you can set the video to full screen mode, load subtitles and videos from URLs and so on. Among the playback options, you can find two drop menus, for selecting an input and output. If you want to play a standard video, you just need to select the 2D option, from the first drop menu.

There are different kinds of stereoscopic videos and each of them require different glasses. Once you load a 3D movie, you must select an input, like even/odd rows or vice versa, alternating the images, starting with the right or left and more. You can find similar options in the output menu, as well as differently colored glasses, like red/green, red/blue, red/cyan and others. If the lenses are not in the correct position, you may tick an option to swap them. You can also use Bino for 3D projections, with multiple projectors. What's more, the player can use the Equalizer framework, for OpenGL rendering.

Pros

Bino comes with various features, for adjusting the video quality, delaying the audio track and more. Its main strength is the fact that it can play stereoscopic videos, using different input and output settings. The play can be useful for 3D projections as well.

Cons

You may have difficulties when loading an online video. Thanks to Bino's capabilities, you can watch 3D movies from the comfort of your home.
